RELATING TO TOWNS AND CITIES--PURCHASING

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 45-55 of the General Laws entitled "Award of Municipal

Contracts" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     45-55-17. Penalties. – A violation of the provisions of this chapter shall be a

misdemeanor punishable by a fine of not more than five hundred dollars ($500) or by

1-5

imprisonment for not more than one year, or both.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
