EXPRESSING OUR DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF COVENTRY

POLICE DETECTIVE WAYNE FRENCH

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this House of Representatives has learned of the

untimely and tragic passing of Coventry Police Detective Wayne French. He was a dedicated

1-3

public servant who devoted his life to protecting the public. He was beloved and highly respected

1-4

by all who knew him and will be sorely missed by family and friends; and

1-5

      WHEREAS, Detective French was born in Cranston, a son of the late Lemuel and

1-6

Blanche (Paliotta) French. He was a twenty-year veteran of the Coventry Police Department and

1-7

had served in the Detective Division since 2001; and

1-8

     WHEREAS, Wayne was an avid outdoorsman who loved to run, hike, fish, tend his

1-9

garden, and relax on the pond. He enjoyed good food immensely, whether it was eating at a fine

1-10

restaurant or cooking a gourmet meal. He was also a big Red Sox and Patriots fan; and

1-11

     WHEREAS, Detective French was the beloved fiancée of Tammy Hicks and former

1-12

husband of Karen French, both of Coventry. He is also survived by his children, Crystal French,

1-13

and Christopher French of Coventry, his siblings, Garry French, Sr., of Coventry, and Gail French

1-14

of New Jersey. He was the Uncle of Garry French, Jr., Kim French, Alea French and Kerry

1-15

Casey; and

1-16

     WHEREAS, We deeply mourn the untimely passing of Detective Wayne French, thank

1-17

him for his distinguished service protecting the public as a Coventry Police Officer, and pray that

1-18

his family and friends can find peace in the memory of a wonderful father, friend, uncle, and

1-19

public servant; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

2-21

Providence Plantations hereby expresses its deepest regrets on the passing of Coventry Police

2-22

Detective Wayne French, and be it further

2-23

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

2-24

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Crystal French, Christopher French, and

2-25

Tammy Hicks.
