EXPRESSING PROFOUND SYMPATHY ON THE PASSING OF KAREN A. CARTIN

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Karen

1-2

A. Cartin, former wife of Nicholas Ferrara, devoted and beloved mother of Nicolas Ferrara,

1-3

Michael Ferrara, and Kristina Ferrara, and the cherished grandmother of Nicolas Soler; and 

1-4

     WHEREAS, Karen is also survived by her sister, Margaret, her godmother, Marie, a large

1-5

and loving extended family, and many, many friends; and

1-6

     WHEREAS, A resident of Riverside and formerly of Warren, Karen was the daughter of

1-7

the late Thomas and Rose Cartin. She had been employed at the Lincoln School in Providence for

1-8

eighteen years; and

1-9

     WHEREAS, Enamored of all things purple, as well as the beach, the Red Sox, and

1-10

cooking for her family, Karen’s lively personality transcended her courageous battle with breast

1-11

cancer; and

1-12

     WHEREAS, The most fitting tribute to Karen Cartin would be a celebration of her life

1-13

and the woman she once was - a woman who lived each and every day fully and joyfully, and a

1-14

woman who was fortunate to have always had the love and support of her family and friends;

1-15

now, therefore be it

1-16

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

1-17

Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to the Ferrara, Cartin, and

1-18

Souraty families on the passing of Karen A. Cartin. She will be joyfully remembered and dearly

1-19

missed; and be it further

     

1-21

RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

2-1

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Nicolas Ferrara, Michael Ferrara, and Kristina

2-2

Ferrara.
