RELATING TO STATE AFFAIRS AND GOVERNMENT -- THE CONVENTION CENTER

AUTHORITY ACT -- NAMING RIGHTS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 42-99 of the General Laws entitled "Convention Center Authority

Act" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section:

     42-99-23. Renaming the convention center. – (a) Notwithstanding any provisions to the

contrary in chapter 42-99 or elsewhere in the Rhode Island general laws, the convention center

authority shall, forthwith, in compliance with the state purchases act of chapter 37-2 of the

1-6

general laws, give notice of an invitation to bid on a contract for the naming rights of the Rhode

1-7

Island convention center. Any and all monies derived from the awarding of the contract for the

1-8

naming rights of the convention center, shall be deposited in the general fund.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
