RELATING TO EDUCATION - PRIVATE SCHOOLS | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

     SECTION 1. Chapter 16-40 of the General Laws entitled "Private Schools" is hereby |

amended by adding thereto the following section: |

     16-40-10.3. Rhode Island school of osteopathic medicine. -- Notwithstanding any rule, |
1-4 |
regulation, or general law to the contrary Rhode Island School of Osteopathic Medicine shall be |
1-5 |
authorized to grant doctor of osteopathic medicine (D.O.) degrees provided that it is in |
1-6 |
compliance with regulations and standards for approval adopted by the board of governors for |
1-7 |
higher education. |
1-8 |
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
