It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

     SECTION 1. Section 2 of Chapter 185 of the 2011 Public Laws entitled “An Act Relating |

to Motor and Other Vehicles Safety Belt Use” is hereby amended to read as follows: |

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage and it shall expire on June 30, |

     SECTION 2. Section 2 of Chapter 186 of the 2011 Public Laws entitled “An Act Relating |

to Motor and Other Vehicles – Safety Belt Use” is hereby amended to read as follows: |

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage and it shall expire on June 30, |

2012. |

     SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon passage. |

     This act would amend the sunset provision of the statute passed in 2011 which provides |

that violation of the seat belt law would be a primary offense. |
2-3 |
     This act would repeal the 2011 amendments on June 30, 2012 rather than June 30, 2013. |
2-4 |
Seat belt violations occurring after June 30, 2012 would revert to a secondary offense. |
2-5 |
     This act would take effect upon passage. |
