CONGRATULATING EDWIN J. HOXSIE ON THE JOYOUS OCCASION OF HIS 90TH | |
BIRTHDAY AND THANKING HIM FOR HIS 66 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO | |
THE WEST GREENWICH VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT | |

     WHEREAS, Edwin J. Hoxsie, a graduate of Coventry High School, served our nation |

with honor and integrity as a member of the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. |

He married his wife of 46 years in 1943, the late Wanda Hoxsie, and together they raised their |
1-4 |
sons, Edwin J. Hoxsie, III, and Brian Hoxsie; and |
1-5 |
     WHEREAS, After the war, Edwin worked for thirty-six years as a dedicated employee of |
1-6 |
Eastern Airlines. In addition, he devoted much of his volunteer time in service to the West |
1-7 |
Greenwich Volunteer Fire Department, which he joined in 1946. He served as its Fire Chief for |
1-8 |
thirty-seven years and remains a member today, with sixty-six years of total service. His sons |
1-9 |
have continued his commitment to fire departments. Edwin Hoxie, III, served as Fire Chief at |
1-10 |
Stamford Fire Station in New York, while Brian Hoxie served as Fire Chief with the Coventry- |
1-11 |
Washington Fire Station; and |
1-12 |
     WHEREAS, Edwin Hoxsie is a beloved figure to all who know him and we join together |
1-13 |
to celebrate the 90th Birthday of this outstanding gentleman. He has served the citizens of West |
1-14 |
Greenwich throughout his life with love and devotion. May Edwin have many more years to |
1-15 |
devote to the people and places that hold so much meaning in his life; now, therefore be it |
1-16 |
     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
1-17 |
Providence Plantations hereby joyously celebrates the 90th Birthday of Mr. Edwin J. Hoxsie. We |
1-18 |
thank him for his service to our nation during World War II, and for his devoted service to the |
1-19 |
West Greenwich Volunteer Fire Department and the citizens of West Greenwich; and be it further |
2-20 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-21 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Edwin J. Hoxsie. |
