RECOGNIZING PAMELA J. MONAHAGAN, RON BARRON, AND THE BLACKSTONE | |
VALLEY TOURISM COUNCIL | |

WHEREAS, The dedicated and outstanding efforts of Pamela J. Monahagan, Ron |

Barron, and the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council (BVTC) resulted in the implementation of |

the Broad Street Regeneration Initiative Action Plan, a collaboration involving the cities of |
1-4 |
Pawtucket, Central Falls, and Cumberland, Rhode Island; and |
1-5 |
WHEREAS, As AmeriCorps Vista workers, Pamela Monahagan and Ron Barron |
1-6 |
committed themselves to serving full-time for a year at a nonprofit organization or local |
1-7 |
government agency. They worked in conjunction with the BVTC; and |
1-8 |
WHEREAS, Together with the BVTC, Ms. Monahagan and Mr. Barron endeavored to |
1-9 |
put into place the regional plan that will maintain and enhance historic preservation, with |
1-10 |
comprehensive façade, pedestrian, and streetscape improvements, including parking strategies; |
1-11 |
and |
1-12 |
WHEREAS, In addition, the redesign of the Broad Street corridor calls for improvements |
1-13 |
to public safety, business stimulus, and community growth, as well as economic development and |
1-14 |
sustainability initiatives; and |
1-15 |
WHEREAS, Pamela Monahagan and Ron Barron went above and beyond the expected as |
1-16 |
they enriched and revitalized the three communities of Pawtucket, Central Falls, and Cumberland |
1-17 |
through their effective and highly-engaged capacity building. They have certainly earned our |
1-18 |
admiration and gratitude; now, therefore be it |
1-19 |
RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
1-20 |
Providence Plantations hereby recognizes and commends Pamela J. Monahagan, Ron Barron, |
2-1 |
and the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council for their outstanding efforts in the implementation of |
2-2 |
the Broad Street Regeneration Initiative Action Plan. We wish them success in all their future |
2-3 |
endeavors; and be it further |
2-4 |
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-5 |
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Pamela J. Monahagan, Ron Barron, and Robert |

Billington, President of the Blackstone Valley Tourism Council. |
