EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF MARIE VIRGINIA KIRK | |

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this House has learned of the passing of Marie |

Virginia Kirk, the beloved wife for more than six and a half decades, the one and only true love, |
1-3 |
and the best friend of her husband, Kenneth Kirk. She was also the loving and devoted mother of |
1-4 |
five children, Patricia Durigan, widow of the late Philip Durigan, Kenneth Kirk, Jr., and his wife, |
1-5 |
Doris, Lawrence Kirk, Richard Kirk and his wife, Diane, and Margaret Coyne and her husband, |
1-6 |
Donald; and |
1-7 |
     WHEREAS, Born in Providence to the late Margaret and Carlo Arbolino, Marie and her |
1-8 |
husband, Kenneth, had been long-time residents of Cranston before moving to New Symrna |
1-9 |
Beach in 1997; and |
1-10 |
     WHEREAS, Marie and Kenneth had joined the New Symrna Yacht Club, where they |
1-11 |
enjoyed playing canasta and all the various social functions. Marie was also an active Christian |
1-12 |
and followed the Catholic faith; and |
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, Marie’s loving personality created and nurtured a marriage that flourished, |
1-14 |
and a home that was warm and welcoming. She doted on her family, particularly her great- |
1-15 |
granddaughters Hannah and Grace. She enjoyed a special closeness with her seven |
1-16 |
grandchildren, Sheri, wife of our friend and colleague Representative O’Neill, and David, Kelli, |
1-17 |
Ryan, Christina, Andrew, and Geoffrey; and |
1-18 |
     WHEREAS, Blessed with a thoughtful and caring nature, Marie was the kind of mother |
1-19 |
and grandmother that every child needs and deserves. She was the heart and soul of her family, |
1-20 |
and her kindheartedness and sincerity will forever be indelibly imprinted on the lives and in the |
1-21 |
cherished memories of her entire family; now, therefore be it |

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2-2 |
Providence Plantations hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to Mr. Kenneth Kirk and the |
2-3 |
entire Kirk Family on the passing of Marie Virginia Kirk. She will be forever remembered as a |
2-4 |
devoted wife and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother; and be it further |
2-5 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-6 |
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Kenneth Kirk, Patricia Durigan, Kenneth and |
2-7 |
Doris Kirk, Jr., Lawrence Kirk, Richard and Diane Kirk, Margaret and Donald Coyne, and Sheri |
