CONGRATULATING THE EXETER - WEST GREENWICH SCARLET KNIGHTS | |
CHEERLEADING 2 COMPETING TEAMS FOR THEIR 3RD CONSECUTIVE FIRST | |

     WHEREAS, It is fitting that this House recognizes those young people who have exalted |

themselves through their talents and unflagging commitment to excellence in their chosen field; |

and |

     WHEREAS, The young ladies of the Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights |
1-5 |
Cheerleading 2 Competing Teams have distinguished themselves with a profundity of honors and |
1-6 |
awards while competing in the Pop Warner Cheerleading Competition; and |
1-7 |
     WHEREAS, Cheerleading was officially recognized in the 1970's, but has been a part of |
1-8 |
the Pop Warner program for several decades. Cheerleading requires a passion for the sport, a |
1-9 |
knowledge of basic gymnastics and cheerleading, a willingness to learn, and amazing physical |
1-10 |
stamina; and |
1-11 |
     WHEREAS, Around the world, more than 180,000 children participate in Pop Warner |
1-12 |
cheerleading and dance. They not only learn about the values of competition, but also about the |
1-13 |
sheer fun of the sport and the discipline required to maintain their grades at satisfactory levels; |
1-14 |
and |
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, The girls compete based upon age, with Junior Peewees consisting of 8 to |
1-16 |
11 year olds, Peewees being 9 to 12 year olds, Junior Midgets are 10 to 13 year olds, and Midgets |
1-17 |
are between 11 and 15 years old. For the third consecutive year, members of these various Exeter- |
1-18 |
West Greenwich competing teams have taken first place in the Pop Warner Competition; and |
1-19 |
     WHEREAS, There are always young people who rise above the rest, who dare to dream, |
1-20 |
and who are willing to endeavor to make those dreams become reality. The young ladies of the |
2-1 |
Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights Cheerleading 2 Competing Teams are just such |
2-2 |
exceptional young ladies, and they are truly deserving of our recognition and praise; now, |
2-3 |
therefore be it |

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2-5 |
Providence Plantations hereby congratulates and applauds the competing teams and their |
2-6 |
coaching staff for their first place dynasty for 2009, 2010, and 2011. The entire membership |
2-7 |
extends best wishes for their continued success, good health, and much happiness; and be it |

      RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
