H O U S E R E S O L U T I O N | |
CONGRATULATING THE HONORABLE JOSEPH AND JEANNINE SCANLON ON THE | |
OCCASION OF THEIR 60TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY | |

     WHEREAS, A marriage that is long and filled with love affects more than the two people |

who choose to join their lives. Family, friends, and entire communities also bask in the reflected |
1-3 |
glow of a happy marriage; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, For the past 60 years, Joseph and Jeannine Scanlon have built such a |
1-5 |
marriage. Six decades ago, Joseph Scanlon vowed to share his life’s fortune with his lovely bride, |
1-6 |
the former Jeannine Pelletier. They raised three wonderful children, Deborah Geralyn, Stephen |
1-7 |
Joseph, and Susan Elizabeth, and centered their energies on creating a home for them in Tiverton |
1-8 |
that was caring and nurturing; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, Over the years, Joe and Jeannine accumulated many joyous memories in |
1-10 |
their professional and personal lives. Joe devoted 28 years to serving Senator Fernane J. St. |
1-11 |
Germain as an administrative assistant. He left to become the Executive Vice President for |
1-12 |
Public and Legislative Affairs for Blue Cross/Blue Shield, a position from which he eventually |
1-13 |
retired. Joe also served in the Rhode Island House of Representatives, representing Tiverton from |
1-14 |
1959 to 1961; and |
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, While Joe and Jeannine now live for part of the year in Ft. Lauderdale, |
1-16 |
Florida, they cannot keep away from their long-time home of Tiverton. They fill their days with |
1-17 |
bridge and golf and devote themselves to their seven grandchildren, Amanda, Alyssa, Sean, |
1-18 |
Bryan, Elizabeth, Kayana, and Shana, whom they spoil shamelessly and without restraint; and |
1-19 |
     WHEREAS, Joe and Jeannine have nurtured a strong and caring family, providing their |
1-20 |
children and grandchildren with magnificent memories of family vacations and holidays filled |
2-1 |
with love. The Scanlon’s time together truly represents what marriage means: the sharing of |
2-2 |
smiles, tears, obstacles, and successes. The vows that Joe and Jeannine exchanged on June 7, |
2-3 |
1952, are as strong and cherished today as they were six decades ago. Their marriage is a shining |
2-4 |
example for all to emulate and admire; now, therefore be it |
2-5 |
     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2-6 |
Providence Plantations hereby joins the many friends and family of The Honorable Joseph and |
2-7 |
Jeannine Scanlon in celebrating the joyous occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary. We wish |
2-8 |
them good health and every happiness for many years to come; and be it further |
2-9 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-10 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to The Honorable Joseph and Jeannine Scanlon. |
