HONORING REPRESENTATIVE JOHN J. MCCAULEY, JR., FOR HIS SERVICE TO THE | |
PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

     WHEREAS, The Honorable John McCauley has served with honor and distinction in the |

Rhode Island House of Representatives for the past twenty-two years, currently as the |
1-3 |
Representative for District 1, representing the citizens in the City of Providence; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Born in Providence, John McCauley attended Providence’s public schools. |
1-5 |
He and his wife, Margaret, are the parents of three children, John Joseph, III, Shaylyn Mae, and |
1-6 |
Gabrielle Elise. He is self-employed as an insurance adjuster at McCauley & L’Europa Public |
1-7 |
Insurance Adjusters; and |
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, Held in high esteem by his colleagues, Representative McCauley is |
1-9 |
currently serving as Deputy Speaker of the House and is a member of the House Finance |
1-10 |
Committee; and |
1-11 |
     WHEREAS, Representative McCauley has been instrumental in enacting and has |
1-12 |
supported numerous pieces of legislation, including an act protecting borrowers from predatory |
1-13 |
mortgage lending, a bill that would give a one-time gift from the state lottery to the Rhode Island |
1-14 |
State Council for the Arts, and legislation seeking a ban on “bath salts,” to name just a few; and |
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, Representative McCauley’s civic and community involvement includes |
1-16 |
membership in numerous local and professional groups, including serving on the Providence |
1-17 |
Planning Commission from 1987 through 1990, as a member of the Narragansett Bay |
1-18 |
Commission, a former member of the Board of Directors for the Smith Hill Center and the Smith |
1-19 |
Hill Community Development Corporation, a Board member of Innovative Solutions, and a |
1-20 |
member of the North End Business Association; and |

     WHEREAS, The Honorable John McCauley has brought humor, common sense, and a |
2-2 |
tremendous work ethic to the General Assembly during his years in office. His service to the |
2-3 |
citizens of Providence and the state has ultimately made Rhode Island a far better place to live |
2-4 |
and flourish; now, therefore be it |
2-5 |
     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2-6 |
Providence Plantations hereby honors and thanks Representative John McCauley for more than |
2-7 |
two decades of dedicated service enriching the quality of life for all the citizens of Rhode Island. |
2-8 |
We wish him and his lovely wife, Margaret, the very best health, happiness, and success; and be |
2-9 |

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Honorable John J. McCauley, Jr. |
