RESPECTFULLY URGING THE UNITED STATES CONGRESS TO REINTRODUCE AND | |
SUPPORT LEGISLATION DESIGNATING THE HONOR AND REMEMBER FLAG AS AN | |
OFFICIAL SYMBOL TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR MEMBERS OF THE ARMED | |
FORCES WHO HAVE DIED IN THE LINE OF DUTY | |

     WHEREAS, Throughout American history our nation has been propitiously blessed with |

so many of her citizenry willing to serve their country at moments of great peril. These brave |

men and women have often risked all and sacrificed so very much in order to protect our precious |
1-4 |
rights and independence; and |
1-5 |
     WHEREAS, The heroism of America’s troops personifies what makes our country so |
1-6 |
glorious. Men and women from all walks of life, who set aside their day to day lives and put their |
1-7 |
dreams and hopes on hold, to answer the call to duty with a courage and determination of purpose |
1-8 |
that has brought honor and distinction not only to themselves, but to an entire world; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, Let us pay homage to and never forget the sacrifices made by generations |
1-10 |
of men and women in the armed forces, whose noble sacrifices have enabled us to stand here |
1-11 |
today enjoying the freedoms and liberties we hold so dear in our hearts; now, therefore be it |
1-12 |
     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island |
1-13 |
and Providence Plantations hereby urges the United States Congress to reintroduce and support |
1-14 |
passage of a bill to amend title 39 of the United States Code to designate the Honor and |
1-15 |
Remember Flag as an official symbol to recognize and honor members of the Armed Forces who |
1-16 |
have died in the line of duty; and be it further |
2-17 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-18 |
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to the members of Rhode Island’s Congressional |
2-19 |
Delegation. |
