CONGRATULATING WEIN-O-RAMA ON FIFTY YEARS IN BUSINESS | |

     WHEREAS, Incorporated and established in 1962 by Greek immigrant Michael |

Sotirakos, Wein-O-Rama, on Oaklawn Avenue in Cranston, has been supplying those of us who |

are craving a “weiner-fix” with an “all-the-way” for the past fifty years; and |

     WHEREAS, New York System restaurants can be found all over Rhode Island but |
1-5 |
George and Ernie Sotirakos, current owners and sons of the original proprietor, have been |
1-6 |
specializing and perfecting this famous fast food delicacy at the Wein-O-Rama for five decades |
1-7 |
and surely have a proven recipe for a unique and satisfying culinary experience; and |
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, Whether you know them as Hot Weenies, Belly Busters, or Gaggers, and |
1-9 |
whether you order them with Greek-accented meat sauce, raw chopped onions, yellow mustard, |
1-10 |
and celery salt or any combination thereof, Wein-O-Rama is guaranteed to satisfy your taste |
1-11 |
buds; and |
1-12 |
     WHEREAS, Rhode Islander’s have had an ongoing love affair with the Hot Weiner that |
1-13 |
has endured from one generation to the next and through multiple food fads. The perfect |
1-14 |
construction of a hot weiner is considered by some to be “a tour de force of short-order |
1-15 |
dexterity”; and |
1-16 |
     WHEREAS, Even if the “Best Hot Weiners Anywhere” are not your desire, Wein-O- |
1-17 |
Rama also has a more traditional menu with sandwiches and hamburgers, Italian dinners, seafood |
1-18 |
platters, and a tasty array of breakfast foods; now, therefore be it |
1-19 |
     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
1-20 |
Providence Plantations hereby extends our sincere congratulations to Wein-O-Rama on fifty |
1-21 |
successful years doing business in Rhode Island. We furthermore thank the owners, George and |

Ernie Sotirakos, Uncle Nick, and Mean Jean, as well as all the staff for maintaining this beloved |

Rhode Island culinary tradition; and be it further |

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Mr. George Sotirakos and Mr. Ernie Sotirakos. |
