S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N | |
CONGRATULATING WILL LARCOM ON ATTAINING THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT | |

     WHEREAS, In a society where temptations for young people seem to be on the rise and |

misguided decisions seem more easily made, it takes a very special young man to voluntarily |
1-3 |
choose to dedicate himself to serve others, and put into practice the noble ideals of the Scout Oath |
1-4 |
and Scout Law. Will Larcom is such a special young man, and certainly his accomplishments |
1-5 |
should not go unrecognized; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, Using his skills and abilities for the common good, he has earned thirty |
1-7 |
Merit Badges, nine more than the required twenty-one, and has excelled in many leadership |
1-8 |
positions, such as Troop Guide, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Senior Patrol |
1-9 |
Leader, and Assistant Scout Master. Through perseverance and determination, he has attained the |
1-10 |
highest rank in scouting, the Eagle, by meeting all the extensive requirements; and |
1-11 |
     WHEREAS, Will has earned several awards and honors, including being chosen by the |
1-12 |
Troop to attend the prestigious White Stag National Youth Leadership Training course and |
1-13 |
becoming an Ordeal Member of the Order of the Arrow; and |
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, For his Eagle service project, Will took on the challenge of gathering fellow |
1-15 |
scouts and volunteers to help restore “The Volunteer,” an antique fire hand tub located at the East |
1-16 |
Greenwich Veteran Fireman’s Association. This consisted of cleaning and polishing the brass and |
1-17 |
copper parts of the tub. In addition, the group polished the club’s collection of hose nozzles. Will |
1-18 |
and his team carried out his challenge with determination and earnest devotion to his community; |
1-19 |
and |
1-20 |
     WHEREAS, Currently a senior at Rocky Hill School, he has been an active member of |
1-21 |
the school’s varsity sailing and Certaman teams and has starred in the school’s drama production, |
2-1 |
which took place this past November. After graduation, Will plans to pursue a degree in fine arts; |
2-2 |
and |
2-3 |
     WHEREAS, Will Larcom, a leader and a member of the Boy Scouts of America, Troop |
2-4 |
1, from East Greenwich in Rhode Island, has displayed the focus, persistence, and initiative |
2-5 |
required to attain the highest honor in scouting; and |
2-6 |
     WHEREAS, This significant achievement is a landmark very few men will ever reach in |
2-7 |
their lives. Will Larcom upholds the dignity and virtue of a true Eagle, and has proven himself to |
2-8 |
be worthy of trust and a truly dynamic leader; now, therefore be it |
2-9 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-10 |
hereby honors Will Larcom for all he has done to attain the rank of Eagle Scout. Convinced that |
2-11 |
Will’s distinguished career in scouting will prepare him for a life replete with accomplishments |
2-12 |
and success, we are certain that he will continue to dedicate a large part of that life to the service |
2-13 |
of others; and be it further |
2-14 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he is hereby authorized and directed to |
2-15 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Eagle Scout Will Larcom. |
