CONGRATULATING THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF RHODE ISLAND ON THE 90TH | |

ANNIVERSARY OF ITS FOUNDING | |

WHEREAS, The Junior League of Rhode Island is an organization currently composed |
|

of 265 dedicated volunteers; women from all walks of life, all races, and a diversity of religions, |
|

who have joined together to advance charitable and educational goals; and |
|
1-4 |
WHEREAS, Founded on June 9th of 1921, the Junior League of Rhode Island has |
|
1-5 |
promoted altruism, contributing over a million hours of volunteerism and providing more than |
|
1-6 |
one and a half million dollars to the ultimate benefit of a cornucopia of Rhode Island’s |
|
1-7 |
population; and |
|
1-8 |
WHEREAS, Internationally, there are 293 Junior Leagues located in four countries. |
|
1-9 |
Since its inception in Rhode Island, more than 16,000 women have participated in the Junior |
|
1-10 |
League of Rhode Island; and |
|
1-11 |
WHEREAS, The Junior League of Rhode Island has certainly earned the unqualified |
|
1-12 |
admiration and gratitude of the people of Rhode Island, and its accomplishments over the past |
|
1-13 |
nine decades are eminently worthy of our recognition and praise; now, therefore be it |
|
1-14 |
RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
|
1-15 |
hereby congratulates the Junior League of Rhode Island on the 90th Anniversary of its founding. |
|
1-16 |
We furthermore recognize the entire club membership for their dedicated service to the |
|
1-17 |
community. We know that they will continue to work to ensure a bright and prosperous future for |
|
1-18 |
Rhode Islanders; and be it further |
|
1-19 |
RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
|
1-20 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to the Junior League of Rhode Island. |
