S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N

EXPRESSING OUR DEEPEST CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF WAYNE FRENCH

     WHEREAS, It is with great sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of Wayne

French, whose life and achievements will live on for many years to come in the memories of

1-3

everyone fortunate enough to have been touched by the quality of this remarkable gentleman; and

1-4

     WHEREAS, Born in Cranston, Wayne was the son of the late Lemuel and Blanche

1-5

(Paliotta) French; and

1-6

      WHEREAS, Wayne was the beloved fiancé of Tammy Hicks and the former husband of

1-7

28 years to Karen French, both of Coventry. He was the beloved father to Crystal French and

1-8

Christopher French of Coventry. Wayne was also the devoted brother of Garry French, Sr., of

1-9

Coventry and Gail French of New Jersey. He was the cherished uncle of Garry French, Jr., Kim

1-10

French, Alea French, and Kerry Casey; and

1-11

     WHEREAS, With a strong sense of civic duty, Detective Wayne French was a 21-year

1-12

veteran of the Coventry Police Department and had served as part of the detective division since

1-13

September, 2001; and

1-14

     WHEREAS, Wayne was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying running, gardening, hiking,

1-15

golfing, fishing, hunting, and just relaxing on the pond. He loved great food, whether cooking a

1-16

gourmet meal at home or eating at a fine restaurant. He had a contagious smile and loved serving

1-17

the community. Wayne was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan; and

1-18

     WHEREAS, Even though we are diminished by this loss and mourn the passing of

1-19

Wayne, so must we celebrate the spirit, generosity, and courage with which he lived every day of

1-20

his life; now, therefore be it

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations

2-22

hereby expresses our deepest sympathies to the entire French Family on the passing of Wayne

2-23

French; and be it further

2-24

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to

2-25

transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Miss Tammy Hicks and the French Family
