A N A C T

RELATING TO EDUCATION - CURRICULUM

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 16-22 of the General Laws entitled "Curriculum" is hereby

amended by adding thereto the following section:

     16-22-26. Advanced placement teacher bonus. – A state certified teacher shall be

1-4

compensated in the amount of fifty dollars ($50.00) for every student taught by such teacher who

1-5

has earned advanced placement (AP) credits in the teacher’s subject area, such compensation to

1-6

be capped at one thousand dollars ($1,000) per school year. The department of education shall

1-7

administer the payments and shall promulgate rules and regulations with respect to the foregoing

1-8

which shall be paid from the general fund.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.

     This act would provide for teacher bonuses for every student who has earned advanced

placement credits, such bonuses to be capped at $1,000 per teacher per year and to be paid from

the general fund.
