RELATING TO PUBLIC PROPERTY AND WORKS - LABOR AND PAYMENT OF DEBTS

BY CONTRACTORS

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Section 37-13-4 of the General Laws in Chapter 37-13 entitled "Labor and

Payment of Debts by Contractors" is hereby amended to read as follows:

     37-13-4. Provisions applicable to public works contracts -- Lists of subcontractors. --

All public works shall be done by contract, subject to the same provisions of law relating thereto

and to the letting thereof, which are applicable to similar contracts of the awarding authority or

authorized agency, hereinafter called the "proper authority", in the general location where the

work is to be performed and which are not contrary to the provisions of sections 37-13-1 -- 37-

1-8

13-14 and section 37-13-16. Each contractor after bidder, prior to the award of a contract for

public works, shall submit to the proper authority a list of his or her subcontractors of any part or

all of the work. The list shall be submitted in such manner or form as the proper authority shall

1-11

uniformly require from contractors bidders in all public works.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage.
