RELATING TO WORKERS' COMPENSATION -- EXEMPT EMPLOYERS | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

     SECTION 1. Section 28-29-5 of the General Laws in Chapter 28-29 entitled "Workers' |

Compensation - General Provisions" is hereby amended to read as follows: |

     28-29-5. Employers exempt. -- The provisions of chapters 29 – 38, inclusive, of this title |

shall not apply to employers |
1-5 |
|
1-6 |
in the same business or to employers of employees engaged in domestic service or agriculture, |
1-7 |
except for employers engaged in occupations which the director declares hazardous, but |
1-8 |
employers not engaged in hazardous occupations may, by complying with the provisions of |
1-9 |
section 28-29-8, become subject to the provisions of those chapters. |
1-10 |
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
