It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

     SECTION 1. Chapter 42-28.2 of the General Laws entitled "Police Officers - |

Commission on Standards and Training" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following |

section: |

     42-28.2-8.3. Educational requirements. - Crisis intervention training. – All municipal |
1-5 |
police departments shall implement crisis intervention training within three (3) years. The police |
1-6 |
departments may utilize in house, service or professional development money, time or trained |
1-7 |
professionals within the police department to accomplish this requirement. |
1-8 |
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
