RELATING TO PUBLIC PROPERTY AND WORKS - STATE PURCHASES | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

     SECTION 1. Section 37-2-62 of the General Laws in Chapter 37-2 entitled "State |

Purchases" is hereby amended to read as follows: |

     37-2-62. Evaluation of qualifications and performance data. -- (a) The committee |
1-4 |
shall evaluate: |
1-5 |
      (1) Statements that may be submitted in response to the solicitation of architectural, |
1-6 |
engineering, or consultant services; and |
1-7 |
      (2) Statements of qualifications and performance data, if their submission was required. |
1-8 |
      (b) All statements and statements of qualifications and performance data shall be |
1-9 |
evaluated in light of the criteria set forth in the solicitation for architectural, engineering, or |
1-10 |
consultant services. |
1-11 |
     (c) The committee may utilize the services of such persons it deems necessary to provide |
1-12 |
advice in evaluating consultant proposals. Such advisors, whether state employees or private |
1-13 |
consultants, shall not be considered members of the committee and shall not be entitled to vote. |
1-14 |
     (d) Except for owner's program managers procured pursuant to this chapter, such advisors |
1-15 |
shall not be entitled to compensation for their services. |
1-16 |
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |

     This act would allow the architectural, engineering and consultant services committee to |

utilize the advisory services of state employees or private consultants. Such advisors would not be |

considered members of the committee, would not be entitled to vote, and would not be entitled to |
2-4 |
compensation for their services. |

     This act would take effect upon passage. |
