PROCLAIMING MARCH 20TH AS "PANDA GIRL RESPECT FOR LIVING THINGS DAY" | |

     WHEREAS, Animals may not always understand people’s underlying needs for comfort |

and affection, but they never hesitate to provide an encouraging, gentle presence; and |

     WHEREAS, Panda Girl, a twelve year-old dog, has interacted with thousands of |
1-4 |
schoolchildren and adults as a tireless therapy working dog; and |
1-5 |
     WHEREAS, The beauty and magic of the human-animal companion bond and the |
1-6 |
unconditional love between a pet and a person can go a long way toward building a friendlier and |
1-7 |
more peaceful world for all living things; and |
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, Our four-legged friends enrich our lives, our families, and our society; now, |
1-9 |
therefore be it |

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
1-11 |
hereby proclaims March 20th to be known in perpetuity as “Panda Girl Respect for Living Things |
1-12 |
Day” in the State of Rhode Island; and be it further |
1-13 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
1-14 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Pearl Salotto. |
