CONGRATULATING ELAINE CRAIK ON BEING NAMED THE 2012 "TEACHER OF THE | |
YEAR" BY THE RICHMOND GRANGE | |

     WHEREAS, Elaine Craik, a science teacher at South Kingstown High School, has |

inspired her students to envision the possibilities, to have confidence in themselves and their |
1-3 |
abilities, and to believe in a future full of promise; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, For her dedication to young people and education, Ms. Craik has been |
1-5 |
named the 2012 “Teacher of the Year” by the Richmond Grange. This recognition is a |
1-6 |
momentous tribute to an exceptional individual who has had a significant and profound impact on |
1-7 |
the lives of her students; and |
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, Combining a relaxed approach to teaching with an innate understanding of |
1-9 |
young people and a genuine love of teaching, Ms. Craik has led young people through the |
1-10 |
intricacies and nuances of not only environmental biology, anatomy, and physiology, but also, of |
1-11 |
growing up. She has guided her students to become effective and contributing members of the |
1-12 |
community, thereby facilitating their lifelong success; and |
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, Young people are not easily hoodwinked: they intuitively recognize true |
1-14 |
dedication and compassion in those who endeavor to guide them. It is perhaps the highest |
1-15 |
compliment to Ms. Craik’s teaching abilities that her students nominated her for the teacher of the |
1-16 |
year award; and |
1-17 |
     WHEREAS, Ms. Craik has certainly earned the recognition of being one of the “best of |
1-18 |
the best” teachers in our state and she has wholly distinguished herself as a person worthy of our |
1-19 |
praise and admiration; now, therefore be it |
2-20 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-21 |
hereby recognizes and congratulates Elaine Craik on the prestigious honor of being named the |
2-22 |
2012 “Teacher of the Year" by the Richmond Grange. We extend our best wishes for her |
2-23 |
continued success, good health, and happiness; and be it further |
2-24 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-25 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Elaine Craik. |
