RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING ANDREW WYNSEN UPON ACHIEVING | |
SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT | |

     WHEREAS, Earning an Eagle Scout Badge is the pinnacle of achievement within the |

Boy Scouts of America. It is an exceptional distinction achieved by fewer than five percent of all |
1-3 |
the young men who enter scouting; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Andrew Wynsen is a remarkable young man worthy of this prestigious |
1-5 |
achievement and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our recognition; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, Learning important lifelong skills and values, Andrew Wynsen of Troop |
1-7 |
152, North Kingstown, Rhode Island, earned the required number of merit badges and has |
1-8 |
demonstrated his leadership in a variety of positions, including Troop Guide, Patrol Leader, |
1-9 |
Instructor, and Senior Patrol Leader; and |
1-10 |
     WHEREAS, As the highlight of his scouting years and to complete the final step toward |
1-11 |
obtaining the rank of Eagle, Andrew carried out an extensive Eagle Scout service project, which |
1-12 |
consisted of taking on the challenge of organizing the collection of used eyeglasses to be sent to |
1-13 |
developing countries. Andrew, with help from the Lions Club’s “Recycle for Sight” program, |
1-14 |
was able to collect more than 400 pairs of glasses for people in need. Andrew devoted countless |
1-15 |
hours and an amazing amount of energy carrying out his project; and |
1-16 |
     WHEREAS, In addition to completing the necessary requirements for his Eagle Badge, |
1-17 |
Andrew has participated in numerous outdoor adventures, including several cycling trips on |
1-18 |
Block Island, as well as camping trips to New Hampshire, Camp Hoffman, Buck Hill, and |
1-19 |
Yawgoog Boy Scout Camp; and |
2-20 |
     WHEREAS, Andrew also finds the time and energy to be an active student at school. An |
2-21 |
aspiring musician, Andrew plays jazz piano in his high school band and also plays in a small jazz |
2-22 |
combo, performing for events and special occasions. He has earned a spot as the pianist in the |
2-23 |
Rhode Island All-State Senior Jazz Band, which will be performing this summer at the Newport |
2-24 |
Jazz Festival. After graduation, he plans on attending the University of Connecticut to pursue a |
2-25 |
double major in Physiology and Jazz Studies; and |
2-26 |
     WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to |
2-27 |
celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Eagle Scout Andrew Wynsen exemplifies |
2-28 |
everything an Eagle Scout should be and all that we hope our children will grow to be; now, |
2-29 |
therefore be it |

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-31 |
hereby honors Andrew Wynsen for all he has done to attain the rank of Eagle within the Boy |
2-32 |
Scouts of America; and be it further |
2-33 |
      RESOLVED, That this Senate hereby extends our deepest appreciation to Andrew for |
2-34 |
his untiring service to the community and for setting a high standard of commitment and |
2-35 |
dedication by which the youth of this great state may follow. We wish him good health and |
2-36 |
happiness in the months and years ahead; and be it further |
2-37 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-38 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Eagle Scout Andrew Wynsen. |
