RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING PETER DAVID DASILVA UPON ACHIEVING | |
SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT | |

     WHEREAS, Earning an Eagle Scout Badge is the pinnacle of achievement within the |

Boy Scouts of America. It is an exceptional distinction achieved by fewer than five percent of all |
1-3 |
the young men who enter scouting; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Peter David DaSilva is a remarkable young man worthy of this prestigious |
1-5 |
achievement and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our recognition; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, Learning important lifelong skills and values, Peter David DaSilva of Troop |
1-7 |
152, North Kingstown, Rhode Island, earned the required number of merit badges and has |
1-8 |
demonstrated his leadership in positions, including Troop Historian, Troop Guide, Patrol Leader, |
1-9 |
Instructor, and Senior Patrol Leader; and |
1-10 |
     WHEREAS, As the highlight of his scouting years and to complete the final step toward |
1-11 |
obtaining the rank of Eagle, Peter carried out an extensive Eagle Scout service project, which |
1-12 |
consisted of taking on the challenge of enhancing the courtyard of the Catholic Center located at |
1-13 |
the University of Rhode Island. The project focused on designing and building four standing |
1-14 |
benches to be used in campfire fashion in the courtyard. Peter devoted countless hours and an |
1-15 |
amazing amount of energy carrying out his project for the benefit of the community and visitors; |
1-16 |
and |
1-17 |
     WHEREAS, In addition to completing the necessary requirements for his Eagle Badge, |
1-18 |
Peter has participated in numerous outdoor adventures, including several cycling trips to Block |
1-19 |
Island, as well as camping trips to Block Island, Camp Hoffman, Buck Hill, and Yawgoog Boy |
1-20 |
Scout Camp; and |
2-1 |
     WHEREAS, Peter also finds the time and energy to be an active student at North |
2-2 |
Kingstown High School. He has been involved in the Yale Physics Olympiad, where his team |
2-3 |
placed third among the 50 teams competing from all over New England. He has also participated |
2-4 |
in the robotics club and the state robotics competition, and he is a member of the Varsity Tennis |
2-5 |
Team. After graduation, he plans on attending college to pursue a degree in physical or |
2-6 |
occupational therapy; and |
2-7 |
     WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to |
2-8 |
celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Eagle Scout Peter David DaSilva |
2-9 |
exemplifies everything an Eagle Scout should be and all that we hope our children will grow to |
2-10 |
be; now, therefore be it |

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-12 |
hereby honors Peter David DaSilva for all he has done to attain the rank of Eagle within the Boy |
2-13 |
Scouts of America; and be it further |
2-14 |
      RESOLVED, That this Senate hereby extends our deepest appreciation to Peter for his |
2-15 |
untiring service to the community and for setting a high standard of commitment and dedication |
2-16 |
by which the youth of this great state may follow. We wish him good health and happiness in the |
2-17 |
months and years ahead; and be it further |
2-18 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-19 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Eagle Scout Peter David DaSilva. |
