It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |
|

SECTION 1. Chapter 36-10 of the General Laws entitled "Retirement System- |
|

Contributions and Benefits" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following sections: |
|

36-10-9.8. Retirement on service allowance - Probation and parole officers. -- (a) |
|
1-4 |
This section shall apply to the retirement of members employed as clerk secretary, data control |
|
1-5 |
clerk, field investigator, fiscal clerk, implementation aide, principal clerk steno, principal clerk |
|
1-6 |
typist, probation and parole aide, senior clerk steno, senior clerk typist, senior word processing |
|
1-7 |
typist, system support technician, parole coordinator, probation and parole officer, case aide |
|
1-8 |
technician, internship/volunteer coordinator, juvenile probation and parole services technician, |
|
1-9 |
deputy compact administrator, probation and parole supervisor, executive secretary of the parole |
|
1-10 |
board and senior research technician within the departments of corrections and children, youth |
|
1-11 |
and families. |
|
1-12 |
(b) Any member who has attained the age of fifty-five (55) years may be retired |
|
1-13 |
subsequent to the proper execution and filing of a written application; provided, however, that the |
|
1-14 |
member shall have completed twenty-five (25) years of total service within the department of |
|
1-15 |
corrections and/or the department of children, youth and families. |
|
1-16 |
36-10-10.5. Amount of service retirement allowance - Probation and parole officers. |
|
1-17 |
– (a) Upon retirement for service under section 36-10-9.8, a member shall receive a retirement |
|
1-18 |
allowance of an amount equal to two percent (2%) of his or her average compensation multiplied |
|
1-19 |
by his or her first thirty (30) years of total service within the department of corrections and/or |
|
2-1 |
department of children, youth and families; any and all years of remaining service shall be issued |
|
2-2 |
to the member at a retirement allowance of an amount equal to his or her average compensation |
|
2-3 |
multiplied by the percentage allowance determined in accordance with Schedule A below: |
|
