EXPRESSING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF | |
VERONICA A. ACCIARDO | |

     WHEREAS, It is with the utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of |

Veronica A. (Fiore) Acciardo, a woman whose greatest joy was found in the simple pleasure of |
1-3 |
spending time with her dear family. Veronica was born seventy-eight years ago in Providence, |
1-4 |
Rhode Island, to the late Thomas and Ann (Rivelli) Fiore. She was the former wife of Ernest C. |
1-5 |
Acciardo; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, Our thoughts and hearts hold empathy and sorrow for her family. We grieve |
1-7 |
with her sons, Thomas Acciardo and The Honorable Gregory J. Acciardo, our former colleague in |
1-8 |
the State Senate. Veronica was the proud and cherished grandmother of Nicole Amelia Acciardo; |
1-9 |
and |
1-10 |
     WHEREAS, Mrs. Acciardo dedicated her professional life to education, teaching |
1-11 |
elementary school-aged children at St. Rocco's School in Johnston for many years; and |
1-12 |
     WHEREAS, Even though we are diminished by this loss and mourn the passing of |
1-13 |
Veronica, so must we celebrate the spirit, generosity, and courage with which she lived every day |
1-14 |
of her life; and |
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, Our greatest tribute to Veronica would be to emulate the attributes which |
1-16 |
made her an outstanding mother, grandmother, friend, and teacher. Veronica A. Acciardo will |
1-17 |
live on for many years to come in the memories of everyone fortunate enough to have been |
1-18 |
touched by the quality of this remarkable woman; now, therefore be it |
1-19 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
1-20 |
hereby expresses our deepest sympathy to the family of Veronica A. Acciardo at this time of |
2-1 |
tremendous loss and grief. She will be truly missed; and be it further |
2-2 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-3 |
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to her sons, Thomas Acciardo and The Honorable |
2-4 |
Gregory J. Acciardo. |
