HONORING FRANK IACONO ON THE OCCASION OF HIS 100TH BIRTHDAY | |

     WHEREAS, Frank Iacono was born ten decades ago on June 21 of 1912. That year, |

Woodrow Wilson defeated both Theodore Roosevelt and President Taft to become the 28th |
1-3 |
President of the United States, the infamous Titanic made her first and last voyage, and a loaf of |
1-4 |
bread cost only a nickel; and |
1-5 |
     WHEREAS, A resident of Providence, Mr. Iacono served our country with honor and |
1-6 |
pride as a member of the United States Air Force during World War II; and |
1-7 |
     WHEREAS, With one century of living already under his belt, Mr. Iacono is still going |
1-8 |
strong. He continues to tend his garden, producing a cornucopia of vegetables each year; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, Mr. Iacono has an overall exuberance for life that is simply awe-inspiring. |
1-10 |
He is a lifelong lover of music and a talented violinist. He is currently serving as the Orchestra |
1-11 |
Concertmaster for the Providence Civic Orchestra of Senior Citizens, is an Orchestra Board |
1-12 |
Member, and has been a charter member of the orchestra since 1977; and |
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, Spiritually, Mr. Iacono is a longtime member of the congregation at St. |
1-14 |
Agnes Church in Providence where he has and continues to perform the duties of Altar Server; |
1-15 |
and |
1-16 |
     WHEREAS, Mr. Iacono is a widely-respected and beloved gentleman. He has had an |
1-17 |
impact on the lives of so many people with his wealth of knowledge, his joyous music, and his |
1-18 |
exuberance for life, and those who have been lucky enough to be a part of his extraordinary life |
1-19 |
are proud to call him their friend; now, therefore be it |
1-20 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
1-21 |
hereby joins the family and many friends of Frank Iacono in honoring him on the very special |
2-1 |
occasion of his 100th Birthday. We applaud his myriad accomplishments, revel in his beautiful |
2-2 |
music, and wish him the very best health and happiness for many years to come; and be it further |
2-3 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-4 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Frank Iacono. |
