RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING ETHAN SPEARMAN UPON ACHIEVING | |
SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT | |

     WHEREAS, The Boy Scouts of America has a long and impressive history of preparing |

young men to assume responsibility in their communities. The Boy Scouts is one of the largest |
1-3 |
youth organizations in the United States. The rank of Eagle Scout, which was first introduced in |
1-4 |
1911, is the highest a young man can attain in the Boy Scouts, and the title of Eagle Scout is held |
1-5 |
for life; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, Ethan Spearman is a remarkable young man worthy of this prestigious |
1-7 |
achievement and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our recognition; and |
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, Ethan has distinguished himself through his continued performance of |
1-9 |
active service in Scouting. He has demonstrated strong leadership abilities by serving in several |
1-10 |
positions. He has exhibited a profound sense of duty, honor, and patriotism, making him a clear |
1-11 |
example of the best qualities of American youth; and |
1-12 |
     WHEREAS, Ethan Spearman Troop 147, Quidnesset, North Kingstown, Rhode Island, |
1-13 |
has completed the arduous and demanding requirements necessary to be awarded the rank of |
1-14 |
Eagle Scout. As the highlight of his scouting years and to complete the final step toward |
1-15 |
obtaining the rank of Eagle, Ethan’s Eagle Project was to take on the challenge of organizing and |
1-16 |
planning the “Peace Garden” located at the Tiogue Elementary School playground. His project, |
1-17 |
the first step in the playground’s reconstruction, consisted of creating six wooden garden boxes |
1-18 |
for students to fill with and care for beautiful flowers. The garden boxes were dedicated to six |
1-19 |
faculty members that recently retired. Ethan and fellow scouts devoted countless hours and an |
1-20 |
amazing amount of energy carrying out his project for the benefit of the community; and |

     WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to |
2-2 |
celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Eagle Scout Ethan Spearman exemplifies |
2-3 |
everything an Eagle Scout should be and all that we hope our children will grow to be; now, |
2-4 |
therefore be it |

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2-6 |
Providence Plantations hereby honors Ethan Spearman for all he has done to attain the rank of |
2-7 |
Eagle within the Boy Scouts of America; and be it further |
2-8 |
     RESOLVED, That this House hereby extends our deepest appreciation to Ethan for his |
2-9 |
untiring service to the community and for setting a high standard of commitment and dedication |
2-10 |
by which the youth of this great state may follow. We send our very best wishes to Ethan |
2-11 |
Spearman and wish him good health and happiness in the months and years ahead; and be it |
2-12 |

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-14 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Eagle Scout Ethan Spearman. |
