RELATING TO EDUCATION -- THE RHODE ISLAND BOARD OF EDUCATION ACT | |

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

     SECTION 1. Chapter 16-97 of the General Laws entitled "The Rhode Island Board of |

Education Act" is hereby amended by adding thereto the following section: |

     16-97-7. Tuition waivers -- Disclosure as a prerequisite to receipt. -- Notwithstanding |
1-4 |
any other provision of law, no employee of the state board of education, his or her spouse, |
1-5 |
domestic partner or dependent, shall receive a tuition waiver as a result of employment status |
1-6 |
with the state board of education, without first consenting to the public disclosure of the existence |
1-7 |
and amount of the waiver. This section shall apply to any tuition waivers, including, but not |
1-8 |
limited to, any such waiver at the Community College of Rhode Island, Rhode Island College, |
1-9 |
and/or the University of Rhode Island. |
1-10 |
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
