RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING ADAM CHRISTOPHER KALUNIAN UPON | |
ACHIEVING SCOUTING'S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE | |

     WHEREAS, Earning an Eagle Scout Badge is the pinnacle of achievement within the |

Boy Scouts of America. It is an exceptional distinction achieved by fewer than five percent of all |
1-3 |
the young men who enter scouting; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Adam Christopher Kalunian is a remarkable young man worthy of this |
1-5 |
prestigious achievement and his accomplishments are truly deserving of our recognition; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, Learning important lifelong skills and values, Adam Christopher Kalunian |
1-7 |
of Troop 11, Coventry, Rhode Island, earned twenty-nine merit badges and has held the |
1-8 |
leadership positions of Patrol Leader and Quartermaster; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, As the highlight of his scouting years and to complete the final step toward |
1-10 |
obtaining the rank of Eagle, Adam planned, developed, and carried out an extensive Eagle Scout |
1-11 |
service project. His service project was to work with Crossroads Rhode Island and determine |
1-12 |
what items would benefit the agency and the homeless individuals and families it serves. With the |
1-13 |
help of other scouts, he set up drop boxes and, using a variety of media, solicited donations of |
1-14 |
travel size shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, bar soap, razors, and other personal hygiene items. |
1-15 |
Items were then sorted, boxed, and delivered to Crossroads. His project demonstrated his |
1-16 |
involvement in, concern for, and commitment to the citizens of Rhode Island; and |
1-17 |
     WHEREAS, Currently a senior at Coventry High School, Adam is both focused on and |
1-18 |
committed to the field of Music Education and he completed his Senior Capstone Project with a |
1-19 |
detailed presentation to the local school board on the importance of music education in our |
1-20 |
schools and the strong correlation that exists between students that participate in music programs |
2-1 |
and their ability to succeed in other subjects. After graduation, Adam plans to attend Stetson |
2-2 |
University located in Deland, Florida, to study music education; and |
2-3 |
     WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth and to |
2-4 |
celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders. Eagle Scout Adam Christopher Kalunian |

exemplifies everything an Eagle Scout should be and all that we hope our children will grow to |
2-6 |
be; now, therefore be it |

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2-8 |
Providence Plantations hereby honors Adam Christopher Kalunian for all he has done to attain |
2-9 |
the rank of Eagle within the Boy Scouts of America and we extend our deepest appreciation to |
2-10 |
Adam for his untiring service to the community and for setting a high standard of commitment |
2-11 |
and dedication by which youth of this great state may follow. We express our very best wishes to |
2-12 |
Adam Christopher Kalunian at his Eagle Court of Honor Saturday, June 1, 2013. We wish him |
2-13 |
good health and happiness in the months and years ahead, and be it further |
2-14 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-15 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Eagle Scout Adam Christopher Kalunian. |
