RECOGNIZING AND COMMENDING BRANDON KELLEY SCHOFIELD ON ACHIEVING

SCOUTING’S MOST DISTINGUISHED HONOR, THE RANK OF EAGLE SCOUT

     WHEREAS, Not every boy, nor even every Scout, qualifies for the high rank of Eagle.

Strenuous physical hurdles, high mental requirements, strong personal character, indomitable

1-3

spirit, and a commitment to community service are a rare combination of qualities and

1-4

achievements to find in one person.  Brandon Kelley Schofield is just such an extraordinary

1-5

young man and his accomplishments are truly worthy and deserving of our recognition and

1-6

praise; and

1-7

     WHEREAS, In spite of peer pressure and other influences, there are those teenagers who

1-8

rise to the challenge.   Brandon is just such a first-rate young man.  As a member of Boy Scout

1-9

Troop 1, Diamond Hill, Cumberland, he has held several leadership positions and  has

1-10

demonstrated wide-ranging abilities, effective skills, and the kind of self-confidence that makes

1-11

him a worthy leader; and

1-12

     WHEREAS, Learning important lifelong skills and values, Brandon earned myriad merit

1-13

badges.  The highlight of his scouting years was completing the final step toward obtaining the

1-14

rank of Eagle Scout by planning and carrying out his Eagle service project of installing a new

1-15

flagpole and flag at Diamond Hill Park; and 

1-16

     WHEREAS, Attaining the rank of Eagle Scout requires considerable perseverance and is

1-17

considered to be the pinnacle of achievement with the Boy Scouts of America.  It is an

1-18

exceptional distinction achieved by only a small percentage of all the young men who enter

1-19

scouting; and

     WHEREAS, It is essential and fitting to recognize the triumphs of our youth, and to

2-2

celebrate the accomplishments of our future leaders.  Brandon Kelley Schofield is a remarkable

2-3

young man who exemplifies everything an Eagle Scout should be, and all that we hope our

2-4

children will grow to be; now, therefore be it

2-5

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and

2-6

Providence Plantations hereby honors Brandon Kelley Schofield for his untiring service to the

2-7

community and for setting a high standard of commitment and dedication by which youth of this

2-8

great state may follow.  We congratulate him for all he has done to attain the rank of Eagle Scout,

2-9

and extend our very best wishes for good health and happiness in the months and years ahead;

2-10

and be it further

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to

2-12

transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Brandon Kelley Schofield.
