EXPRESSING GRATITUDE TO JOSEPH E. CODURI FOR HIS FORTY-FIVE YEARS OF | |
SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS OF THE STATE OF RHODE ISLAND | |

     WHEREAS, It is appropriate that the members of this legislative body should honor |

those selfless citizens who have performed with uncommon devotion and enthusiasm throughout |
1-3 |
their years of public service; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Joseph E. Coduri is one such deserving person who has served the citizens |
1-5 |
of the State of Rhode Island with high merit for forty-five years; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, Joseph earned his degree in Political Science and a Master's Degree in |
1-7 |
Public Administration from the University of Rhode Island; and |
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, Joseph's tenure with the state has included serving on the staff of the URI |
1-9 |
Bureau of Government for fourteen years, where he held the position of acting Director, serving |
1-10 |
as a consultant to many Home Rule Charter Commissions throughout the State, and serving as |
1-11 |
Supervisor, Local Government Assistance, for thirty-one years. Throughout that time, he |
1-12 |
supervised and participated in the compilation of municipal data on wide-ranging projects |
1-13 |
involving legislation, municipal officials, salaries and fringe benefits, fire districts, probate courts, |
1-14 |
and local licenses and permits; and |
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, Mr. Coduri has supported the finances of several Rhode Island cities, towns, |
1-16 |
and school districts by supervising the development of position classification and pay plans. He |
1-17 |
administered a statewide in-service training program for local government officials and was |
1-18 |
responsible for the preparation of hundreds of local fiscal notes detailing the impact on cities and |
1-19 |
towns from proposed legislation. In each of these locations, Joseph has stimulated a warm, |
1-20 |
professional environment that is characterized by integrity, kindness, and concern for others; and |

     WHEREAS, Having distinguished himself throughout his years of service, Joseph Coduri |
2-2 |
recently announced that he will be taking a much-deserved retirement. As he moves on to a new |
2-3 |
chapter in his own life, Joseph leaves in his wake a legacy of selflessness that serves as a |
2-4 |
tremendous example for others to emulate; and |
2-5 |
     WHEREAS, Throughout his impressive career, Mr. Coduri has demonstrated the utmost |
2-6 |
professionalism, ability, and integrity, winning the unbridled respect and admiration of his |
2-7 |
colleagues and the public alike; and |
2-8 |
     WHEREAS, Joseph Coduri is a true public servant who has contributed much to the |
2-9 |
betterment of Rhode Island and to the development and enrichment of our way of life; now, |
2-10 |
therefore be it |

     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2-12 |
Providence Plantations hereby honors and commends Joseph E. Coduri on the occasion of his |
2-13 |
retirement after more than four decades of public service. We voice our gratitude for all he has |
2-14 |
done for the citizens of Rhode Island, recognize his exceptional professionalism and personal |
2-15 |
excellence, and extend to him our heartfelt wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement; and be it |
2-16 |
further |

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-18 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Joseph E. Coduri. |
