HONORING PATROLMAN JAMES CONTI ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT | |

     WHEREAS, If called upon, today's police officers must be willing and able to "Protect |

and Serve" and be ready to step into deadly situations with proficiency and little regard for their |
1-3 |
own safety. These often unsung heroes go about the day-to-day task of upholding the laws of this |
1-4 |
state and it is fitting that we recognize their value and myriad contributions; and |
1-5 |
     WHEREAS, James Conti graduated from the Providence, Rhode Island, Police Academy |
1-6 |
as a member of the 53rd Recruit School. The dictum of the 53rd class was "Pride & Courage," a |
1-7 |
motto Officer Conti would uphold throughout his career. He was sworn in as a City of Providence |
1-8 |
Police Officer on December 14, 1990; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, Since beginning his career in law enforcement, Officer Conti has worked in |
1-10 |
many capacities, including the Bike Unit, the Domestic Violence Unit, the Intelligence Bureau, |
1-11 |
the Special Investigations Bureau, and the Mounted Command; and |
1-12 |
     WHEREAS, In addition, Officer Conti also worked with the Marine Patrol Homeland |
1-13 |
Security, the Patrol Bureau Car 113, and the Providence Emergency Management; and |
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, During his tenure on the force, Officer Conti amassed an inspiring record of |
1-15 |
accomplishments for which he was awarded numerous honors and letters of commendation; and |
1-16 |
     WHEREAS, An officer and a gentleman, James Conti exhibits a devotion to his family |
1-17 |
that has helped to bestow him with high morals, strong character, and a desire to serve. He is |
1-18 |
married to his lovely wife, Luciann, and is the father of Anthony Paolucci, James Conti, Carolyn |
1-19 |
Conti, and Lillian Conti; and |
2-20 |
     WHEREAS, The citizenry of the City of Providence and the State of Rhode Island lead |
2-21 |
far safer and more secure lives due to Officer Conti's exemplary career. His dedication to the job |
2-22 |
and respect for his fellow police officers will be sorely missed, although there is little doubt that |
2-23 |
in his heart he will always be part of the force and a brother in blue; now, therefore be it |
2-24 |
     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
2-25 |
Providence Plantations hereby recognizes, honors, and thanks Patrolman James Conti on the |
2-26 |
occasion of his retirement and for his steadfast and unselfish service to the people of Providence |
2-27 |
and our state. We wish him good health, fulfillment, and continued success in all his future |
2-28 |
endeavors; and be it further |
2-29 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-30 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Officer James Conti. |
