CONGRATULATING JAMES SCOTTI ON THE CELEBRATION OF HIS 75TH BIRTHDAY | |

     WHEREAS, James Scotti, also known affectionately as Jim, Jimmy, Scotti, Dad, Pop, |

and the ice cream man, was born seven decades ago in 1938 to his proud parents, Anthony and |
1-3 |
Victoria Scotti, the youngest of four children. That same year, Franklin D. Roosevelt was the |
1-4 |
President of the United States, instant coffee was invented, groundbreaking began in Washington, |
1-5 |
D.C., for the Jefferson Memorial, and the Yankees won the World Series; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, James married his loving wife, Carole, almost fifty-three years ago and |
1-7 |
together they raised three beautiful daughters Sherry, Debbie, and Karen; and |
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, Even as a youngster, Jimmy demonstrated a passion for public service and |
1-9 |
deep concern for his community. At the age of fourteen, he joined the Pawtuxet Volunteer Fire |
1-10 |
Department. Since that time, he has earned the title of longest-serving President of the Pawtuxet |
1-11 |
Volunteers. Sixty-one years after his initial decision to support the work of the fire department, |
1-12 |
he still volunteers for the Providence Canteen Special Signal Fire Association; and |
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, Jim retired from Centrex Distributors after thirty years of dedicated |
1-14 |
employment and now enjoys his retirement with his wife, Carole, happily supporting the State of |
1-15 |
Rhode Island through many trips to local casinos. In spite of his busy schedule, Jimmy remains an |
1-16 |
active member of VFW Post 183 and local 251; now, therefore be it |
1-17 |
     RESOLVED, That this House of Representatives of the State of Rhode Island and |
1-18 |
Providence Plantations hereby joins the loving family and many friends of James Scotti in |
1-19 |
wishing him a joyous 75th Birthday. We celebrate, too, the decades of energy and time he has |
1-20 |
invested in making Rhode Island a stronger, safer place; and be it further |
2-21 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-22 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mr. James Scotti. |
