EXPRESSING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF JAMES A. GARVEY, III | |

     WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of James |
1-2 |
A. Garvey, III, the beloved husband of Susan Garvey and the proud father of twin sons, James |
1-3 |
and Michael; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Mr. Garvey was the son of Marianna and Edward MacDonald of Newport |
1-5 |
and James A. Garvey, Jr., of California. He had been blessed with a large extended family and is |
1-6 |
survived by his brother, Brian Garvey, his sister, Shona MacDonald, his aunt, Lisbeth Houlihan, |
1-7 |
his uncles, Michael and Edmund Houlihan, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and |
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, A loyal and hardworking man, Mr. Garvey had been employed as a Central |
1-9 |
Office Technician at Verizon for sixteen years. He was active in numerous community |
1-10 |
organizations and was a member of the Ancient Order of the Hibernians. He had also been a |
1-11 |
parishioner, served as Eucharistic Minister, and was member of the Pastoral Council at St. Mary’s |
1-12 |
Church; and |
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, Mr. Garvey treasured his family life and spent many wonderful hours |
1-14 |
involved in his sons’ activities, especially the Fifth Ward Little League, where he had been a |
1-15 |
member as a child; and |
1-16 |
     WHEREAS, There is no doubt that James Garvey touched the lives of myriad people and |
1-17 |
left this world a far better place because of his life’s endeavors. He was a steadfast gentleman, an |
1-18 |
inspiration to us all, and he will be dearly missed; now, therefore be it |
1-19 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
1-20 |
hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of James A. Garvey, III; and be it further |
2-21 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-22 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Susan Garvey and Family. |
