CONGRATULATING THE HONORABLE MYRNA GEORGE ON BEING HONORED WITH | |
THE "MARY BRENNAN TOURISM AWARD" | |

     WHEREAS, The mission of the Rhode Island Hospitality Association (RIHA) is “to |

advocate for and to develop and provide programs, services, support and education to members of |
1-3 |
the hospitality industry”; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Annually, RIHA honors dedicated individuals with “Stars of the Industry” |
1-5 |
awards for their involvement in local communities; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, One of this year’s very deserving recipients is Myrna George, President and |
1-7 |
CEO of the South County Tourism Council, leader of marketing and media creation for the |
1-8 |
esteemed and thrice-honored “South County Style Vacation Guide,” a member of a panoply of |
1-9 |
local boards and organizations that benefit Rhode Island’s population, and a former colleague in |
1-10 |
the House of Representatives who served the residents of Coventry, East Greenwich, Exeter, and |
1-11 |
West Greenwich from 1998 to 2002; and |
1-12 |
     WHEREAS, Over the years, Ms. George has earned the unqualified admiration and |
1-13 |
respect of tourism advocates across the state, and in due course, has enriched our state’s prestige, |
1-14 |
prosperity, and potential; and |
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, By both word and example, Myrna George is truly an inspiration and a |
1-16 |
paradigm of dedication to her community. She has bestowed a lifetime of service and leadership |
1-17 |
to this state and is eminently worthy of our praise and acknowledgement; now, therefore be it |
1-18 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
1-19 |
hereby congratulates and applauds The Honorable Myrna George on receiving the “Mary |
1-20 |
Brennan Tourism Award” from the Rhode Island Hospitality Association. We furthermore wish |
2-1 |
her the very best of health and happiness in all her future endeavors; and be it further |
2-2 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-3 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to The Honorable Myrna George. |
