EXPRESSING CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF GLORIA ANN JOBIN | |

     WHEREAS, It is with profound sadness that we have learned of the passing of Gloria |

Ann Jobin, a woman who was deeply devoted to her family and friends. She was the beloved wife |
1-3 |
of the late Alvin H. Jobin. Our thoughts and hearts hold great empathy and sorrow for her three |
1-4 |
daughters, Susan and her husband, Carl Sjogren, Gail and her husband, Jeffrey Gimborys, and |
1-5 |
Donna and her husband, Stephen Dyer; two adoring grandchildren, Mason Mitchell and Emma |
1-6 |
Dyer; and three beautiful step-granddaughters, Andrea Sjogren, and Hadley and Lydia Gimborys; |
1-7 |
and |
1-8 |
     WHEREAS, Gloria was also the sister of Carol Hughes, Sharon Thibodeau, and Deborah |
1-9 |
Reilly. She was preceded in death by her siblings Ernest, George, Robert, and Donald Hunold and |
1-10 |
by her step-grand daughter, Erica Sjogren; and |
1-11 |
     WHEREAS, Gloria was born in 1930 in Warwick, Rhode Island, to her proud parents, |
1-12 |
the late Ernest and Alice (Legg) Hunold; and |
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, In addition to being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, Gloria |
1-14 |
worked for many years in the East Greenwich School Department as a teacher assistant and front |
1-15 |
office secretary. Prior to working within the School Department, she worked for several years as |
1-16 |
an office secretary for the Greenwich Club. Most recently, Gloria worked as a part-time employee |
1-17 |
of Fiore Realty/Village at Wordens Pond in Wakefield; and |
1-18 |
     WHEREAS, A deeply faith-filled woman, Gloria was a member of St. Francis of Assisi |
1-19 |
Parish in Wakefield, Rhode Island, and a previous member of Our Lady of Mercy Parish in East |
1-20 |
Greenwich, Rhode Island. She contributed to parish life as a PTA president of Our Lady of Mercy |
1-21 |
Catholic School and as a Eucharistic minister at St. Romuald Catholic Chapel in Matunuck, and |
2-1 |
volunteerd on many parish committees. Gloria was also a volunteer for twenty-four years at |
2-2 |
South County Hospital; and |
2-3 |
     WHEREAS, Gloria’s passion for the theatre arts led her to the stage. She was a long-time |
2-4 |
member of the Academy Players in East Greenwich, where she performed in numerous |
2-5 |
productions, as well as helped direct and produce. She also appeared on stage and in after-show |
2-6 |
cabaret for many seasons at Theatre-by-the-Sea in Matunuck; and |
2-7 |
     WHEREAS, Even though we are diminished by this loss and mourn Gloria’s passing, so, |
2-8 |
too, must we celebrate the spirit, generosity, and courage with which she lived every day of her |
2-9 |
life; and |
2-10 |
     WHEREAS, A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Gloria Ann Jobin |
2-11 |
will live on for many years to come in the memories of everyone fortunate enough to have been |
2-12 |
touched by the quality of this remarkable woman; now, therefore be it |
2-13 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-14 |
hereby expresses our deepest sympathy to the entire Jobin family on the passing of Gloria. She |
2-15 |
enriched the lives of all who knew her and will be dearly missed; and be it further |
2-16 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and he hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-17 |
transmit duly certified copies of this resolution to Susan Sjogren, Gail Gimborys, and Donna |
2-18 |
Dyer. |
