A N A C T

RELATING TO EDUCATION -- CURRICULUM

It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows:

     SECTION 1. Chapter 16-22 of the General Laws entitled "Curriculum" is hereby

amended by adding thereto the following section:

     16-22-26. Availability of instruction in musical performance education. – All children

1-4

attending secondary public schools, or any other secondary schools managed and controlled by

1-5

the state, shall have available in those schools instruction in musical performance education.

Secondary schools will presumptively meet this requirement by offering band and/or chorus to its

1-7

students.

     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect on July 1, 2013.
