S E N A T E R E S O L U T I O N | |
EXPRESSING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF MARITE KOCH | |

     WHEREAS, It is with the utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of |

Marite (Kelly) Koch, a woman whose greatest joy was found in the simple pleasure of spending |
1-3 |
time with her dear family. Born sixty-four years ago to the late Matthew and Audry (Delaney) |
1-4 |
Kelly, Marite was the wife of Peter A. Koch and was a life-long resident of Warwick; and |
1-5 |
     WHEREAS, Our thoughts and hearts hold empathy and sorrow for her family. We grieve |
1-6 |
with her children, Kelly Koch, Amy Koch, Kristen Koch, and Peter Koch, Jr. Marite also leaves |
1-7 |
two sisters, Patricia McManus and Maureen Longo, a brother, Dennis Kelly, fourteen nieces and |
1-8 |
nephews, and her grand dog, Maeby; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, In addition to her parents, Marite was preceded in death by her brother, |
1-10 |
Michael Kelly; and |
1-11 |
     WHEREAS, Marite was raised in Edgewood and lived in Warwick for the past 40 years. |
1-12 |
Marite attended St. Mary's Academy-Bay View in East Providence and Regis College in Weston, |
1-13 |
MA. She was a communicant, former softball coach, and religious education teacher at Saint |
1-14 |
Gregory the Great Church; and |
1-15 |
     WHEREAS, Marite was well known for her quick wit and sense of humor. She enjoyed |
1-16 |
traveling, theatre, the arts, cooking, entertaining, the lake house, her book club, and spending time |
1-17 |
with her children; and |
1-18 |
     WHEREAS, Even though we are diminished by this loss and mourn the passing of |
1-19 |
Marite, so must we celebrate the spirit, generosity, and courage with which she lived every day of |
1-20 |
her life; and |
2-21 |
     WHEREAS, Our greatest tribute to Marite would be to emulate the attributes which made |
2-22 |
her an outstanding wife, mother, aunt, sister, and friend. Marite Koch will live on for many years |
2-23 |
to come in the memories of everyone fortunate enough to have been touched by the quality of this |
2-24 |
remarkable woman; now, therefore be it |
2-25 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-26 |
hereby expresses our deepest sympathy to the family of Marite Koch at this time of tremendous |
2-27 |
loss and grief. She will be truly missed; and be it further |
2-28 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-29 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Peter A. Koch. |
