It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

     SECTION 1. Section 45-2-3.3 of the General Laws in Chapter 45-2 entitled "General |

Powers" is hereby amended to read as follows: |

     45-2-3.3. Background checks. -- Notwithstanding any provision of the general or public |
1-4 |
law to the contrary, any municipal recreation department may request a background check from |
1-5 |
their local police department for any employee or volunteer serving their community provided, |
1-6 |
further, any fire department or fire district located in the Town of Burrillville may request a |
1-7 |
background check pursuant to this section for any employee or volunteer performing services for |
1-8 |
the fire department or fire district. |
1-9 |
     SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
