CONGRATULATING KENNETH AYARS ON RECEIVING THE AWARD OF MERIT | |
FROM THE RHODE ISLAND NURSERY AND LANDSCAPE ASSOCIATION | |

     WHEREAS, Kenneth Ayars, the Chief of the Department of Environmental |

Management's Division of Agriculture, was honored with the Award of Merit from the Rhode |

Island Nursery and Landscape Association (RINLA) at the group's annual trade show and |
1-4 |
seminar held on January 17th at the University of Rhode Island's Center for Biotechnology and |
1-5 |
Life Sciences; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, RINLA is the leading horticultural, agricultural, and landscape business |
1-7 |
association in the state. Its members include nurseries, landscape contractors, arborists, irrigation |
1-8 |
specialists, masons, garden centers, turf farms, landscape architects, landscape designers, |
1-9 |
vegetable growers, cut flower growers, suppliers, and allied businesses. The association has a |
1-10 |
long history of partnering with the University of Rhode Island in education, training, and research |
1-11 |
that supports the green industries in Rhode Island; and |
1-12 |
     WHEREAS, A resident of Exeter, Kenneth Ayars has worked in the Rhode Island |
1-13 |
Division of Environmental Management's Division of Agriculture since 1987 and has served as |
1-14 |
division chief since 1998. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology, a Bachelor of |
1-15 |
Science degree in Agriculture and Resource Technology, and a Master of Science degree in Plant |
1-16 |
Sciences from the University of Rhode Island; now, therefore be it |
1-17 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
1-18 |
hereby congratulates Ken Ayars on receiving the award of Merit from the Rhode Island Nursery |
1-19 |
and Landscape Association. We applaud him on all of his hard work and wish him continued |
1-20 |
success; and be it further |

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |

transmit a certified copy of this resolution to Mr. Kenneth Ayars. |
