HONORING WILLIAM SEQUINO, JR., FOR 25 YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE AS | |
TOWN MANAGER OF EAST GREENWICH | |

     WHEREAS, For the past two and a half decades, Mr. William Sequino, Jr., has served as |

the venerated Town Manager of East Greenwich, Rhode Island. During his tenure in that |
1-3 |
capacity, he has conferred his considerable talents and energy to making his community one of |
1-4 |
the best places to reside, raise a family, and do business within our state; and |
1-5 |
     WHEREAS, Providing the community with economic strength and stability through |
1-6 |
astute fiscal policies, Mr. Sequino established and has maintained the highest municipal bond |
1-7 |
rating for any community within the state. In addition, he was instrumental in attracting and |
1-8 |
building long-lasting and beneficial business and educational relationships for the town; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, Through his participation in the RI Economic Development Commission, |
1-10 |
Mr. Sequino was able to recruit and attract Brooks Drug World Headquarters and Yardley |
1-11 |
Technical Products into the town. He also negotiated the relocation of the New England Institute |
1-12 |
of Technology’s university campus to East Greenwich and successfully executed a $33.2 million |
1-13 |
dollar sewer extension program; and |
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, Highly regarded not only within the community, but also on a state level, |
1-15 |
Mr. Sequino’s eminent qualifications led to his recruitment by the Rhode Island Director of |
1-16 |
Revenue to serve as Chairperson for the City of Woonsocket’s Budget Commission. In 2008, he |
1-17 |
received the prestigious Goodrich Distinguished Public Service Award from the Rhode Island |
1-18 |
Public Expenditure Council; and |
1-19 |
     WHEREAS, Mr. Sequino has also served as President and Executive Board member for |
1-20 |
the International City/County Management Association and as Vice President and a member of |
2-1 |
the Executive Committee for the Rhode Island League of Cities and Towns; and |
2-2 |
     WHEREAS, By consistently maintaining enviable economic conditions and admirable |
2-3 |
quality of life status for the Town of East Greenwich, usually placing in one of the top two |
2-4 |
ranking positions within the state, Mr. Sequino has earned the respect and the gratitude of the |
2-5 |
citizens in his community; and |
2-6 |
     WHEREAS, A truly extraordinary man, Mr. Sequino serves as a model of dedicated and |
2-7 |
conscientious civic service, and he is enormously worthy of our emulation, adulation, and |
2-8 |
acknowledgement; now, therefore be it |
2-9 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-10 |
hereby recognizes and thanks William Sequino, Jr., for twenty-five years of steadfast service to |
2-11 |
the Town of East Greenwich. We wish him good health, fulfillment, and continued success; and |
2-12 |
be it further |

     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-14 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to William Sequino, Jr. |
