It is enacted by the General Assembly as follows: | |

SECTION 1. Section 42-66.9-1 of the General Laws in Chapter 42-66.9 entitled |
|

"Housing for the Elderly - Emergency Generators Required" is hereby amended to read as |
|
1-3 |
follows: |
|
1-4 |
42-66.9-1. Emergency generators required. -- All housing for the elderly complexes, as |
|
1-5 |
defined in section 42-66.1-2, which are serviced by one or more elevators and/or electrically |
|
1-6 |
powered chair lifts, and which include more than |
|
1-7 |
residential living units in a single building shall be equipped with emergency generators which |
|
1-8 |
shall provide sufficient power to provide emergency lighting to all common areas and a |
|
1-9 |
community room and power to operate the elevators and a refrigerator in a common area. |
|
1-10 |
Generator systems shall be in accordance with the national electric code and section 23-28.24-9. |
|
1-11 |
SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon passage. |
