EXPRESSING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF RICHARD J. HODSON | |

     WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of |

Richard J. Hodson, a well-respected, lifelong member of the Pascoag community and the devoted |
1-3 |
husband of Shirley Hodson. He was also the beloved father of Michael Hodson and his wife, |
1-4 |
Terri-Lynn, Shawn Capron and her husband, Robert, Donna Crisafulli and her husband, Richard, |
1-5 |
and Linda Vario and her husband, Kenneth; and |
1-6 |
     WHEREAS, Born in Providence, Mr. Hodson was the son of the late Richard and Anna |
1-7 |
Hodson. He was a graduate of Burrillville High School and had attended New England Technical |
1-8 |
Institute; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, Mr. Hodson served our country with honor and distinction in the United |
1-10 |
State Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was assigned to the USS Albany and later became a |
1-11 |
member of the USS Albany Association. Upon leaving the service, Mr. Hodson was employed as |
1-12 |
a store Manager with the former A&P Supermarket and later worked as the Financial Director for |
1-13 |
Zambarano Hospital, until his retirement in 1991; and |
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, Active in the community, Mr. Hodson was elected as Town Councilman |
1-15 |
from 1971 until 1980. He served as Council President from 1974 through 1980, during which |
1-16 |
time the new police station was built in its current location. He was also a charter member and |
1-17 |
had served as President of the St. Joseph School’s PTG, was a member of the Burriville Senior |
1-18 |
Citizens Association, where he served as trip advisor, and was a member of the Community |
1-19 |
Players theater group; and |
1-20 |
     WHEREAS, In addition to being survived by his wife and children, Mr. Hodson was the |
1-21 |
proud grandfather of seven grandchildren, Eric, Erin, Jennifer, Laura, Chelsea, Katherine, and |
2-1 |
Sarah, and five great-grandchildren, Darren, Noah, Nathan, Makenna, and Addyson; and |
2-2 |
     WHEREAS, There is no doubt that Richard Hodson left this world a far better place |
2-3 |
because of his life’s endeavors. He was a steadfast gentleman whose integrity and determination |
2-4 |
enriched the lives of all who knew him and was an inspiration to us all; now, therefore be it |
2-5 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-6 |
hereby expresses our deepest sympathies on the passing of Richard J. Hodson; and be it further |
2-7 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-8 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Mrs. Shirley Hodson and Family. |
