EXPRESSING SINCERE CONDOLENCES ON THE PASSING OF H. EDDY CALLAHAN | |

     WHEREAS, It is with utmost sadness that this Senate has learned of the passing of H. |

Eddy Callahan, also known as Enelia Concetta Callahan, and affectionately known as "Miss |

Eddy" to her family and many friends; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Miss Eddy was the wife of the late Harry J. Callahan. She was born in |
1-5 |
North Providence, the daughter of the late Enelio and Marie Valente and the sister of Ann M. |
1-6 |
Carnevale, and the late Anthony Valente, Guide (Jack) Valente, Madilaine Valente Lenorado, |
1-7 |
Angela Valente Saccoccio, and Natalie M. Valente Wittmer. She was also related to the late |
1-8 |
Senator John O. Pastore and is survived by many loving nieces and nephews; and |
1-9 |
     WHEREAS, Miss Eddy was a resident of the State of New York for many years. She |
1-10 |
had been a former International Vice President and International Merchandise Manager for Aris |
1-11 |
Isotoner, a Division of Sara Lee Corporation in the United States, Canada, London, Scotland, |
1-12 |
Italy, France, Ireland, Germany, and Russia; and |
1-13 |
     WHEREAS, Upon her retirement in 1995, Miss Eddy chose to move to the City of |
1-14 |
Newport where she set her considerable determination on filling her days with a panoply of |
1-15 |
endeavors. Executed with excitement, enjoyment, and fulfillment, Miss Eddy's altruistic |
1-16 |
endeavors earned her the love and admiration of many in the community; and |
1-17 |
     WHEREAS, Miss Eddy was a member of the Forum Lodge, Sons of Italy, Newport Festa |
1-18 |
Italiana, and the Grand Marshall in the 2009 Columbus Day Parade. She had been a member of |
1-19 |
the Newport Preservation Society of Newport County, Newport Art Museum, Rose Island |

Lighthouse, Redwood Library & Atheneum, Benefactors of the Arts, The Newport Music |
2-2 |
Festival, Edward King Senior Center, and Gooseberry Beach. She had also been employed part |
2-3 |
time with the Newport Convention and Visitor's Bureau; and |

     WHEREAS, The overwhelming adulation for Miss Eddy stands as testament to the |
2-5 |
generosity inherent in her accomplishments. She was a true Bon Vivant, a force of nature, and an |
2-6 |
irrepressible personality who led an enviable life where each and every day was lived fully and |
2-7 |
joyfully embraced; now, therefore be it |
2-8 |
     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-9 |
hereby extends sincere condolences on the passing of H. Eddy Callahan; and be it further |
2-10 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-11 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ann M. Carnevale of Cranston, Rhode Island. |
