CONGRATULATING STEPHANIE DICHIRO ON BEING NAMED THE 2013 "CRANSTON | |
PUBLIC SCHOOLS' TEACHER OF THE YEAR" | |

     WHEREAS, Stephanie DiChiro, an exceptionally dedicated twenty-eight year veteran |

teacher, has received the prestigious honor of being named the 2013 “Cranston Public Schools’ |
1-3 |
Teacher of the Year”; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, This recognition is a momentous tribute to an outstanding individual who |
1-5 |
has had a significant and profound impact on the lives of her students through her extraordinary |
1-6 |
commitment to education; and |
1-7 |
     WHEREAS, Combining a genuine love of teaching with boundless enthusiasm, |
1-8 |
Stephanie DiChiro has led her young students at Garden City Elementary School through the |
1-9 |
intricacies and nuances of learning to read and write, thereby building a strong foundation to |
1-10 |
facilitate their lifelong success; and |
1-11 |
     WHEREAS, For twenty-seven out of her twenty-eight years teaching in Cranston, Ms. |
1-12 |
DiChiro has taught first graders. With her motto, “Watch us bloom,” she nurtures her young |
1-13 |
“blooms” in a safe, respectful, and caring learning environment; and |
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, Going that extra mile, Ms. DiChiro also enlists and involves parents of her |
1-15 |
students in the teaching process by hosting a parents night, with a mini training course, a book |
1-16 |
night, where students read to their parents, and an author’s tea, bringing area writers in to inspire |
1-17 |
and share their love of writing; and |
1-18 |
     WHEREAS, Ms. DiChiro has wholly distinguished herself as a person worthy of our |
1-19 |
praise and admiration. She has not only helped hundreds of children to succeed, but also has been |
1-20 |
an inspiration to colleagues and a tremendous asset to the entire school community; now, |

therefore be it |

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-3 |
hereby recognizes and congratulates Stephanie DiChiro on the prestigious honor of being named |
2-4 |
the “Cranston Public Schools’ Teacher of the Year.” We extend our best wishes for her continued |
2-5 |
success, good health, and happiness; and be it further |
2-6 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-7 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Stephanie DiChiro. |
