CREATING A SPECIAL LEGISLATIVE COMMISSION TO STUDY BUILDING | |
STRUCTURED PARKING AT THE GARRAHY JUDICIAL COMPLEX | |

     RESOLVED, That a special legislative commission be and the same is hereby created |
1-2 |
consisting of eleven (11) members: three (3) of whom shall be members of the Senate, not more |
1-3 |
than two (2) of whom shall be from the same political party, to be appointed by the Senate |
1-4 |
President; three (3) of whom shall be members of the House of Representative, not more than two |
1-5 |
(2) of whom shall be from the same political party, to be appointed by the Speaker of the House; |
1-6 |
one of whom shall be the Director of the Department of Administration, or his or her designee; |
1-7 |
one of whom shall be the Director of the Department of Transportation, or his or her designee; |
1-8 |
one of whom shall be the Chairperson of the I-195 Redevelopment District, or his or her |
1-9 |
designee; one of whom shall be the State Court Administrator, or his or her designee; and one of |
1-10 |
whom shall be the Honorable Mayor of Providence, or his or her designee. |
1-11 |
     The purpose of said commission shall be to make a comprehensive study and issue |
1-12 |
findings about building structured parking at the Garrahy Judicial Complex. |
1-13 |
     In lieu of any appointment of a member of the legislature to a permanent advisory |
1-14 |
commission, a legislative study commission, or any commission created by a general assembly |
1-15 |
resolution, the appointing authority may appoint a member of the general public to serve in lieu |
1-16 |
of a legislator, provided that the Majority Leader or the Minority Leader of the political party |
1-17 |
which is entitled to the appointment consents to the appointment of the member of the general |
1-18 |
public. |
1-19 |
     Forthwith upon passage of this resolution, the members of the commission shall meet at |
1-20 |
the call of the Speaker of the House and Senate President, who shall select co-chairpersons. |
2-1 |
Vacancies in said commission shall be filled in like manner as the original appointment. |
2-2 |
     The membership of said commission shall receive no compensation for their services. |
2-3 |
     All departments, boards, commissions, and agencies of the state shall furnish such advice |
2-4 |
and information, documentary and otherwise, to said commission and its agents as is deemed |
2-5 |
necessary or desirable by the commission to facilitate the purposes of this resolution. |
2-6 |
     The Joint Committee on Legislative Services is hereby authorized and directed to provide |
2-7 |
suitable quarters for said commission; and be it further |
2-8 |
     RESOLVED, That the commission shall report its findings and recommendations to the |
2-9 |
General Assembly no later than January 7, 2014, and said commission shall expire on March 7, |
2-10 |
