CONGRATULATING STEPHANIE PERRY ON HER INDUCTION INTO THE 2013 RHODE | |
ISLAND INTERSCHOLASTIC LEAGUE HALL OF FAME | |

     WHEREAS, Stephanie Perry is one of eleven former athletes who has earned the |
1-2 |
prestigious honor of being inducted into the Rhode Island Interscholastic League Hall of Fame in |
1-3 |
the Class of 2013; and |
1-4 |
     WHEREAS, Hall of Famers can be former high school athletes, coaches, administrators, |
1-5 |
or sportscasters who have distinguished themselves in city, state, and national athletic programs; |
1-6 |
and |
1-7 |
     WHEREAS, Stephanie Perry grew up in Providence, Rhode Island, the youngest of seven |
1-8 |
children. While attending Central High School in the early 1980s, she attained the highest |
1-9 |
accolades and honors for her exceptional abilities on the basketball court; and |
1-10 |
     WHEREAS, While playing for the Lady Knights, Stephanie and her teammates captured |
1-11 |
the 1982 Class B title. She averaged an outstanding 29 points per game. And with a career |
1-12 |
scoring total of more than 2,000 points in an era before the three-point shot was instituted, |
1-13 |
Stephanie earned All-State honors for three consecutive years; and |
1-14 |
     WHEREAS, Continuing her education after high school, Stephanie attended the |
1-15 |
University of Maryland and the Florida Institute of Technology. She credits her family, |
1-16 |
particularly her dear sister, Mimi, as well as her coaches, friends, the T.E.A.M., and the |
1-17 |
community of Providence for supporting her and helping her achieve her dreams; and |
1-18 |
     WHEREAS, As Bear Bryant once said, "If you believe in yourself, have dedication and |
1-19 |
pride and never quit, you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high, but so are the rewards." |

Stephanie Perry has earned her place in the Hall of Fame. She is a wonderful role model and we |

are proud to celebrate her achievements; now, therefore be it |

     RESOLVED, That this Senate of the State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations |
2-3 |
hereby applauds Stephanie Perry for her myriad accomplishments and congratulates her on being |
2-4 |
inducted into the 2013 Rhode Island Interscholastic League Hall of Fame. We moreover wish her |
2-5 |
good heath, continued success, and much happiness; and be it further |
2-6 |
     RESOLVED, That the Secretary of State be and hereby is authorized and directed to |
2-7 |
transmit a duly certified copy of this resolution to Ms. Stephanie Perry. |
